Siddlesham Ferry, Selsey Bill and Medmerry

First stop was Siddlesham Ferry to try and secure a year tick Spotted Redshank. It was a fine day with no wind. I was certain there was one bird, but there were another three birds that I initially thought were Redshank. However, the more I looked at the more I thought they were Spotted Redshank. Thankfully Andrew House was at Selsey Bill and was able to confirm there were 4 Spotted Redshanks there. Selsey Bill was very quiet due to the weather so I headed to Medmerry in hope of an Osprey.

I walked from Easton Lane to the Stilt Ponds and recorded 50 species, but that didn't include an Osprey. It did, however, include 2 Little Stint which was a bit of a surprise, although it shouldn't have been as they were reported yesterday. Other species amongst the the circa 350 Canada Geese on the Stilt Ponds were a Ringed Plover, a Greenshank, a Little Grebe, and a Cattle Egret that flushed on my walk back and dropped down out if sight. Migrant passerines were a bit thin on the ground.
