I visited Levin Down this evening which is an SWT nature reserve near Goodwood. It was superb. As I was watching Marsh Tits flitting about I noticed something moving a few metres in front of me. I took a step forward and a young Roe Deer stuck it's head up. It froze for a few seconds, enough time for me to get a picture, and then darted off into the scrub. Also my first sighting of a badger that wasn't squash at the side of the road. I was fairly small so I guess it was a young one. Other highlights were a singing Lesser Whitethroat and about 50 Swifts screeching over Charlton village. There were many wildflowers to be seen including lots of Mother-of-Thyme and Common Spotted Orchid and Kidney Vetch.
