It was nice to be back in Winpenny this morning following its reopening. The fog lifted quickly and revealed a view that I've missed. Lapwings were busy displaying and defending territory while Shelducks casually fed on the mad and a few Swifts hawked for insects. Matt was at The Hangar and from here 3 Avocets, a Little Ringed Plover and a Kingfisher were the highlights. All around was the sound of spring with Nightingales, Whitethroats and a Cuckoo singing. The birding may not have been the best, but with things starting to feel normal again it was reminiscent of very enjoyable trips here in the past.
