Amberley Wildbrooks

A decent morning at Amberley despite yet another frost, and a fog that meant I couldn't visit the swamp. There was a noticeable increase in Sedge Warblers and Whitethroats with at least two of former and four of the latter singing. 2 Mediterranean Gulls went over noisily first thing and there was a Barn Owl out hunting by the wet wood. Standing by the river I heard a Redshank alarm call but couldn't tell which direction it came from; probably the swamp. The Grasshopper Warbler heard Sunday was reeling again but with a bit more purpose today, although still not really going for it. A Cuckoo was also heard briefly.
