Warnham LNR and Broadlands

Little Bunting

As I was in the office today I decided to pop into Warnham LNR at lunch to see the Little Bunting. It was, without a doubt, the easiest twitch I have done. After parking, which is about 5 mins from the office, I walked the 100 metres to the Bulfinch Hide where the birds as been for the past few weeks and it was pointed out to me feeding a couple of metres away. Other sightings noted on the short trip were a male and female Siskin pair that came down to the feeders, a few Chiffchaffs were aound, and a few Tufted Ducks and a Great Crested Grebe on the water. Back at the Broadlands were more Chiffchaffs plus my first Blackcap of the year singing from high up in a tree. A Grey Heron was hanging around the pond briefly.
