Amberley Wildbrooks and Storrington

A grey wet and windy morning at Amberley showed some noticable change with the departure of the 300+ Wigeon that have been in the flooded field under the caste for the last few months. There were two stragglers in the swamp along with c90 Teal and 15 Gadwall. Chiffchaff numbers have increased with at least four recorded. Raptors comprised one each of Buzzard, Red Kite, Peregrine and Merlin. Loads of Meadow Pipits and Skylarks around and 5 Lapwing seen.

Later in the afternoon when looking out of my living room window a hirundine appeared, and then a little while later there were two hawking. I struggled to ID them and initially thought they were Swallows as they're heads appeared dark. However, there were no tail streamers and Swallow numbers are still quite low, so I they were most likely Sand Martins.
