Amberley Wildbrooks

Not much change at Amberley this morning. 2 Shelducks and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls were under the castle with the usual wildfowl which included a pair of Pintail. At the swamp there was a mixed flock of Redwing and Starling with 50 Redwing counted as they left the area and flew over my head towards Timberley Farm. At least 2 Water Rails were recorded by the wet wood with a male singing, although I got a sense there were more around. They didn't seem concerned with my presence and were calling almost from beneath my feet. I only got very brief glimpses of one. The only waders were a couple of Lapwing and the only raptors a single Buzzard. The Great White Egret is still around.
