Heyshott Down
I fancied somewhere new today so headed for Charlton Forest. Parking up at a nearly full Cocking Hill car park I headed east along the South Downs Way towards Heyshott Down. Walking through Manorfarm Down I spotted 5 Wheatear feeding in a ploughed field. I headed to Heyshott Down as planned, which is a biological SSSI. It was an interesting landscape, and quiet too; I saw just one family walking there as I went down then back up its very steep escarpments. Here I noted 3 Redstarts, a Spotted Flycatcher, a large flock of Siskins, 4 Ravens, a Red Kite and a few Buzzards, and on the walk back there were many Swallows in the sky.
