Pulborough Brooks

A quick loop of Pulborough this morning where there's a vast amount of waterfowl, perhaps ten thousand or more individuals across the reserve. West Mead is starting to look normal again. Here, there were 2 Peregrines on the deck, but without a kill. At Winpenny the Wigeon were very close, with 6 on the pond just out the front of the hide. A Kestrel perched up briefly on a fence post just outside one of the hide windows until it noticed me and flew off.  A tri-colour Marsh Harrier was causing a bit of panic. From Little Hanger there was a another Marsh Harrier, this one a cream-cap and hiding away in the grass. I also noted at least 100 Black-tailed Godwits. From The Hanger I managed to pick out 2 Ruff and a Dunlin from the many thousands of birds. No Tufted Ducks today, but still quite a few Coot. Just as I was about to leave I noticed a Barn Owl quartering and briefly getting hassled by a Carrion Crow.
