Church Norton

I popped down to Church Norton this afternoon for a long overdue birding trip. There was a chill in the air, but the sun was out and there was little wind, which made for comfortable birding conditions. It was approaching low water in the harbour and on scanning I noted Dunlin, Grey Plover, Redshank, Curlew and a single Ringed Plover. A few Shelduck were seen distantly and Wigeon and Teal here and there. I walked to the beach and had a scan out to sea. A very large flock of gulls were in a feeding frenzy a long way off, presumably having found some fish, but apart from that there was little else of note. On the beach were the usual waders, plus a few Common Gulls. Back to the harbour and wader numbers had dropped, but a single Avocet and a noisy Bar-tailed Godwit were nice additions to the trip list.  Then, just as I was thinking of heading off, 7 noisy geese came over and headed out to sea; Brent Geese.
