Amberley Wildbrooks

This afternoon I left a busy Amberley village via the Wey South Path onto a nice and quiet Amberley Wildbrooks. Quite a contrast from Pulborough Brooks a little earlier where I couldn't even get in to Winpenny! I noted about 10 Common Gulls (one pictured) and a group of Wigeon on the flooded field just beyond the village. The area around the swamp was busy with bird chatter and I reckon there could be 1000 Starling and, say, 300 winter thrushes, mostly Fieldfare but a good few Redwing too. There was some Teal on the river.  I noted at least 2 Buzzards, 1 or 2 Marsh Harriers, 2 Kestrels and a Sparrowhawk. On the Rackham side there was a big flock of Lapwing, perhaps 200.
