Adur Estuary

After the mist had cleared it was a fine morning along the Adur Estuary at low tide. I parked by the Amsterdam Inn and walked south. I noted 5 Dunlin, 18 Ringed Plover and 1 Oystercatcher along the stretch to the railway bridge, amongst the usual gulls.

After emerging from under the bridge I spotted 10 Turnstone. I paused for a while to scan and heard a wagtail's call, and a Grey Wagtail dropped down on the the mud. I watched a Herring Gull gulp down some breakfast and then crossed over the river on the road bridge.

On the other side, on the RSPB reserve, there were c15 Lapwing. There were one or two Blackcaps around the Recreation Ground, and a few Swallows went by as I wandered back up the western side of the river to the footbridge. Over the footbridge I saw a Common Sandpiper further upriver.
