Whilst the trip wasn’t particularly productive, it’s notable for a huge flock of gulls I saw in one of the fields in the distance when I first arrived. It wasn’t until the whole flock went up, perhaps flushed by the nearby Buzzards, I got a sense of its size. The picture shows over 200 birds, and it's just a small portion of it. It could have been 600 strong, even double that, I couldn’t count. They were too distant for me to ID, but I would guess mainly Herring Gulls. Then, on the way back, in the distance looking out over Arundel and across to Findon, the full flock was spread all across the horizon. It was some spectacle.
